Yukon City Oklahoma Attractions

Yukon OK Public Parks Yukon Oklahoma has many family oriented activities and festivals throughout the year. A Taste of Louisiana & Crawfish Festival celebrates Oklahoma history during the Louisiana Purchase. The Kirkpatrick Family Farm puts on quite a show for the residents of Yukon with re-enactments portraying settlers, Calvary soldiers and buffalo hunters. You get a sense of the way life was back in the 1800's. The celebration is held annually in the first weekend of June.

Yukon is also known for its Freedom Fest. A celebration of our Nation's Independence with a fun filled day and fireworks at night on the 4th of July.  Another popular event in Yukon is the Christmas in the Park lighted displays. There are 3 interconnecting parks that decorate from top to bottom with twinkling lights, darling village houses and motorized characters. This is a free event lasting from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve.

And for the Senior Citizens in Yukon the Parks and Rec team will host the Yukon Senior Games. Following in the footsteps of the Olympic Games, adults 50 and older can participate in a variety of sporting events, creative arts and a recreational series of events. A very inexpensive way to meet your community and volunteer for the good of the Seniors in Yukon. You can find out more about these events at the Parks & Recreation Department for Yukon.

All told, the City of Yukon Parks and Rec oversee and maintain 3 recreational facilities, two aquatic centers, ten parks and over 20 annual special events through out the year. Yukon OK Christmas Lights

Yukon is rich in history and shows off with its many museums including a railroad and farm equipment and a concerned Yukon Historical Society with many photographs, an art center and a wall of fame of business in Yukon. Much pride is taken in the care of the Chisholm Trail which can still be seen in undeveloped land. It is largely maintained through the local Chisholm Trail Historians.

Summer fun in Yukon is expected and you won’t be disappointed. From June until late August you can listen to Concerts in the Park on Thursday evenings and two special nights of the OK City Philharmonic Concerts. Visit the Yukon Parks & Recreation department for further details about this and other summer fun.
